TEACHER TAKES BOOTCAMP TO SCHOOL- "After being with Ultrafit for my 2nd session, I realized that the same exercises would be great for my grade 5 students. When I told them what I was doing for exercise they were excited to give them a try. It's the first time in my teaching career I've heard cheers go up for pushups and situps. The monkey jumps are a favourite. Now that we are hooked on Boot Camp it will be a regular part of our P.E. program.

Ultrafit was recommended to me by a colleague who had been attending sessions for more than a year. I was looking for a program that would focus on all around fitness and not just cardio. I just want to say I joined bootcamp because I was not looking forward to Burning Man at all. The thought of being in a desert with my friends that hadn't seen me in over a year, all silently thinking about how much weight I had gained was a terrifying thing. After 8 weeks of boot camp, the date finally arrived to go to Nevada and I cannot express how happy I was to go. I worked hard putting together costumes, and ended up wearing them and feeling great about myself. Getting compliments is awesome. People kept asking me what I did to look so good. I returned to regular bootcamp classes Thanksgiving 2009. In 8 months through regular attendance I lost between 48 and 50 lbs. This made a huge difference to my workouts and I have noticed now my cardio, flexibility and strength have increased by leaps and bounds. This is really a credit to the Ultrafit classes. The instructors are very supportive and encouraging and made me really want to both attend classes, even on the rainy days, and push myself a little more with each exercise. The classes are challenging, well-organized and best of all, fun. "I thoroughly enjoyed bootcamp and will be back to do the program again. I feel stronger in a lot of ways and the biggest change that I notice is that I have almost no lower back pain now. My energy level does not seem to be where it should be but I think the long heat spell that we have been having is one contributing factor. The other is that I have not been following the nutrition and meal planning portion of the program and have not been doing the journalling part either. "We wanted to pass on our thoughts about what motivates us to come to bootcamp, even when the weather is lousy. Living in Vancouver this may always be one of the challenges of having a bootcamp that is outdoors. Being outdoors is certainly what makes Ultrafit appealing to us but the draw of having interesting workouts to attend is what will actually make us go on lousy weather days. I belonged to a swim club for 10 years and what kept me going back (among other things) was that no two workouts were ever the same. Variety of workouts, we feel, is the key to keeping excited about going to bootcamp. The various instructor challenges have been great and the station workouts are also good. Just knowing there is an exciting, challenging workout to get up and out the house in the morning for is what we appreciate the most with Ultrafit. "One of the most
important things I've learned from the whole bootcamp experience
including the coaching calls is about setting, implementing and
achieving small goals (rather than large unattainable ones).
During the one on one coaching calls, Annilou has encouraged me to identify personal nutrition and fitness concerns. She has helped me focus on how to address these challenges by breaking them down into smaller/easier challenges and I learned to set specific goals to work on my problems areas (e.g. eating healthy dinners). And if I am stuck for ideas Annilou always has great suggestions!
The past 4 weeks I've really spent time focusing on how to encourage MYSELF to put the work into my fitness and nutrition. Without Annilou's guidance I wouldn't have stuck to it. Her enthusiam and interest in health comes across so vividly that one cannot be anything but inspired! I looked forward to our phone calls because I wanted to tell her what I worked on and how I was getting through it all. I went from eating poorly at night to making home cooked meals that I enjoy and are nutritious!
